On November 1, 2024, Kitemill welcomed its new Chief Technology Officer, Marius Dyrseth. He brings extensive experience in transforming innovative products into accessible, commercial successes—a contribution he aims to make at Kitemill as well.
Dyrseth was responsible for the technical and practical launch of Norway's first battery-powered fishing vessel, Karoline, in 2015. His influence has helped expand battery-driven propulsion along Norway's coast, setting a new industry standard. He now brings his deep expertise to Kitemill, where he’s set to navigate the company toward scalable and durable solutions in airborne wind energy.
Airborne Wind Energy on a Large Scale
"Kitemill has an exceptional concept with kites that are durable and have consistently proven their capability to generate airborne wind energy. I’m very much looking forward to being part of the company's next chapter: commercialising our products for large-scale use. I am convinced that, together, we can achieve this relatively quickly," says Dyrseth.
From Boat Builder to Battery-Powered Vessels
Dyrseth studied at the University of Trondheim before starting as a boat builder in 2013 at Selfa Arctic in Trondheim, where he soon became responsible for all technical installations. He later served as both Marketing and Technology Director for the battery company PBES in Norway between 2016 and 2017. Following this, he co-founded Clean Marine Switchboards, providing battery-powered propulsion solutions for maritime and land-based industries. More recently, he served as CTO of EVOY in Florø, known for battery-powered engines for the shipping industry.
Pushing the Limits
"I’m always seeking new challenges and enjoy working with technological products in dynamic markets. Kitemill’s project strongly contributes to the green transition, which is essential. I see many academic challenges where we’ll push boundaries and learn new things for a long time. When I saw Kitemill was looking for a new CTO, I felt inspired to apply. My start has been smooth, and I’ve met many skilled and friendly colleagues. I look forward to tackling the many tasks ahead, all with one overarching goal—to commercialise our kites as swiftly as possible," Dyrseth adds.
High Optimism for the Future
Kitemill’s CEO, Thomas Hårklau, is very pleased to have Marius Dyrseth on the growing Kitemill team. “We’re seeing technological progress daily, and optimism is high among employees, board members, and investors alike. With Marius on the team, we are confident that Kitemill will continue on the positive trajectory we’ve established, accelerating the scale-up of our technology.”
