- The position in Kitemill is spot-on for me. This is what I have been working on ever since the boy days, says the famous model airplane builder Trond Hammerstad. He joined Kitemill 1st of May, 2020.
Experienced model builder: Here is Trond Hammerstad with two F-86 Sabers on a 1: 3.7 scale. He made the aircraft on order from customers in the United States. Now Trond has become part of Kitemill's permanent team.
Trond Hammerstad is now working hard to assemble a new kit model, Spark kite. It has a wingspan of 7.5 meters. Hammerstad has long experience as a model aircraft builder. The 52 year old has more than 40 years of experience in the turbine section of the model airplane sports. Over the years, he has built up a large network both nationally and internationally. In total, he has made hundreds of RC (Radio Control) jets, received several international awards and accolades and a lot of international media coverage.
Turned the hobby into livelihood
Trond Hammerstad is a well-known and respected person in both the Norwegian and international turbine model section. For the past five years, he has been a full-time model builder and has delivered over 40 models around the world, from his company Exact Aircraft, from his model workshop in Skien. Trond Hammerstad is the only one in Norway who has been able to make aviation model building a profession. He has a large workshop next to his residence in Skien and has supplied various jet models to customers all over the world.

Skien and Lista
-I knew Kitemill and Jo Grini. That led me to do some assignments for Kitemill. Gradually, there have been many. When I got the offer of a permanent job with production of kites, in Kitemill, I applied right away, says Trond.
- Kitemill is an exciting company that is absolutely operating in my field, so I am very happy to be part of the Kitemill team from now on. I leave my company idle while I work for Kitemill, ”says Hammerstad, who already has been at Kitemill’s test facility at Lista for two weeks. He will also spend some of his working hours in the workshop he has built up in Skien.
