The coming months UMOE Mandal will support Kitemill in production of composite air-frames. UMOE Mandal is one of the most advanced composite manufacturers in Norway and mainly supply the maritime sector. The most famous build is the costal corvettes which is the worlds fastest warship. Within renewable UMOE Mandal produces fast crew transfer vessels for offshore wind farms and have also produced wind turbine blades.
UMOE Mandal’s geographical location close to Kitemill’s workshops and test site at Lista makes it attractive to receive production support. Sture Smidt, who is responsible for the kite development at Kitemill says: “The cooperation of producing a small series of kite airframes is a rather small in UMOE Mandal’s measurement. But it will allow Kitemill to move crucial personnel resources to more critical processes. The kites will be used to bring Kitemill’s turbines into continuous operation”.
